2008 Open Teams Challenge for the
Peter Hecht-Johansen Trophy
The club's annual weekend Teams-of-Four competition will this year be held on the weekend of 20th-21st September.
The format is a multiple teams qualifier on the Saturday afternoon/evening, with the top four teams going
through to the knockout stage on the Sunday for the Peter Hecht-Johansen Trophy.
Those who don't qualify
for the knockout stage will play either a Swiss teams or a multiple teams (depending on numbers) on the Sunday. Those who are knocked out in the semi-final will be re-absorbed into
the secondary event with a carry-forward score.
The idea is to provide a high quality teams event that is open to all - not just Young Chelsea members.
Entry is £120 per team for the whole four sessions of bridge, and the prize fund will be at least £1000 with a first prize of £400.
Former winners are Janet de Botton (Jason Hackett, Justin Hackett, Gunnar Hallberg,
Artur Malinowski and Nick Sandqvist), Fiona Hutchison (Brian Senior, Nick Boss and Richard Johnson), and Simon Cope (Ed Jones, Nathan Piper, Chris Cooper).

Approximate times (subject to confirmation) are:
Saturday 2pm - 5pm; 5.30 - 8.30pm
Sunday 11.30am - 2.30pm; 3.00 - 6.00pm
Teams who are unable to play on both days may elect to play in the consolation event only on the Sunday - this costs £80 per team.
