2006 Marathon - 3rd - 4th June
The 2006 marathon started at about 2.15pm on Saturday 3rd June. There was an advance entry of 36 pairs (although some were playing with three players in a 'pair', as allowed by the conditions of the event), but a few last-minute entries gave us a total of 40 pairs.
This year the event was divided into five sessions, each of 32 boards (8x4
board rounds), except that each session there was one section playing in a Howell movement who
only played 28 boards and finished the session early. This gave a total of 156 boards played by each pair - slightly less than
usual. Play finished a bit before 2pm on Sunday 4th June, and the event was won by Espen Erichsen and Norman Selway with 59.29%.
