Club Pairs Championship 2009
Games for this event take place on the last Thursday of every month during the year (3rd Thursday in December). There is no regular Thursday club game on these nights.
The first prize (£1000) goes to the pair with the best four scores
from the twelve games of the event, and there is also a second prize of £300. Scoring is by matchpoints and there are no bidding system
restrictions (though adequate disclosure is expected - further regulations can be downloaded),
so it provides a rare opportunity to use (and encounter) methods
that are usually prohibited.
Additional prizes are as follows:
for the average of the best three scores in the final six months £100
for the average of the best two scores in the final three months £100
for the best score of the year £100
No pair may win more than one prize, and only club members are eligible for prizes. The prizes will be awarded in the order listed above.
To enter, you just need to turn up
on a last Thursday with a partner and play (you are allowed to enter more than
one partnership by playing with more than one partner). Table money is the
same as the Monday/Wednesday/Friday games - ie £7.00 for members,
£10.00 for non-members.
There is a compulsory draw for starting positions in all Championship Pairs games. Only those with mobility problems will be
excepted from this.
Current Standings of those who have
played in at least four games will be available once enough games have been played.
